Checklist
- Make a list of what you consider are the most important features for a care home and its location.
- Check that you know what level of care is required.
- Check how it will be funded. If you are unsure, ask for advice from social services or call an independent financial advisor who understands finances for the elderly. Other organisations like Age UK are really helpful.
- Think about where the location of the home should be - can family and friends visit easily?
- Ring the homes you would like to view and get as much information as you can and ask for a brochure to be sent and the latest inspection report.
- Make a short list of homes to view.
- Where possible, always try to visit the home before making a decision.
