Helping elderly or infirm relatives move home
When the time finally comes to arrange the move to your new home, Moves With Care can help you to choose a removal company. We can book and arrange the move and help you to pack up your personal belongings if you wish.
Prior to your relocation, we can contact all the relevant utilities and service providers and notify them of your new address. We can also arrange for final meter readings to be taken and notify the utility companies accordingly and we can also arrange for your post to be re-directed.
On the day of the move, we can arrange private transport for you, if required, and assist with settling you into your new home so that you are all organised and ready to start your new life.
Once you have relocated to your new home Moves With Care can help to unpack and place your furniture and belongings where you want them.
We will make you a cup of tea so you can relax and enjoy your new home while we do all the hard work!
Checklist
- Book the removal company as soon as you know the removal date.
- If you are doing the packing, then start packing early.
- Label boxes clearly.
- Use paper plates to insert between dinner plates.
- Save old tea towels to cushion delicate items.
- Label Hi-fi and computer leads.
- Use wardrobe boxes to save clothes from being crushed.
- Inform utilities and services of your new address.
- Arrange for your post to be re-directed.
- Make sure you have essential things handy for those first few days in your new home - medication, kettle, tea, milk, bedding, clothes, etc..
